Με τον παραπάνω τίτλο ένα από τα μεγαλύτερα επιστημονικά περιοδικά, το «Pharmaceutical Biology» (Φαρμακευτική Βιολογία), που εκδίδεται και κυκλοφορεί στην Αμερική, δημοσίευσε τον περασμένο μήνα (Ιανουάριο 2010) μελέτη-έρευνα των Θωμά Σαββίδη (αναπλ. Καθηγητή Βιολογίας στο Α.Π.Θ.), Θάνου Ασκητή (Ψυχιάτρου- Σεξολόγου- Συγγραφέα) και Lilyana Yurukova (καθηγήτριας Φυτολογίας Βουλγαρίας).
Η επιστημονική αυτή έρευνα και τα αποτελέσματά της αναφέρονται στη δράση της Μαστίχας Χίου για την τόνωση της ανδρικής σεξουαλικότητας και φυσικά στην καλή λειτουργία του προστάτη, λόγω της περιεκτικότητάς της σε ψευδάργυρο, που ως γνωστόν λειτουργεί ρυθμιστικά στον ανθρώπινο οργανισμό.
Ο «χιολάτρης» Θωμάς Σαββίδης, εδώ και πολλά χρόνια ασχολείται με τη μαστίχα της Χίου και όχι μόνο, έχοντας εκδώσει ένα από τα πρώτα βιβλία που αναφέρονται στο μοναδικό αυτό προϊόν μας, ενώ έχει στη διάθεσή του εξαιρετικές φωτογραφίες που απεικονίζουν τον μικρόκοσμο της μαστίχας, μέρος των οποίων έχουν εκτεθεί και στη Χίο.
Συνεργάζεται επίσης με το Κέντρο Περιβαλλοντικής Εκπαίδευσης Χίου και στις 25 Φεβρουαρίου θα δώσει διάλεξη αναφορικά με τη μεσογειακή διατροφή και τον Αριούσιο οίνο. Επίσημα, λοιπόν, και με επιστημονική σφραγίδα, η μαστίχα θεωρείται ως αφροδισιακό φυσικό προϊόν, αν και οι έρευνες των μελετητών συνεχίζονται για ανάλογη δράση και στις γυναίκες.
Βέβαια, για το ρόλο αυτό της μαστίχας υπήρχαν ήδη σχετικές αναφορές στους περιηγητές από όπου δόθηκε και η αφορμή στον κ. Σαββίδη να ξεκινήσει την έρευνά του. Επίσης, ο ίδιος, ανακάλυψε σημαντικές καταγραφές σε ισλαμικό βιβλίο του 1414, βασισμένο στο Κοράνι, με τίτλο «Η Ιατρική του Προφήτη».
Ανάλογες είναι και οι έρευνες του γεννημένου στη Χίο, Θάνου Ασκητή, αν και ο Βαλεντίνος πέρασε θυμηθείτε μαστίχα και πάλι μαστίχα!
